PPMS Events are generally held monthly from April -October. The 2024 season is shaping up to be a great one! This year there will be more hands-on events, culinary events and surprise guests. Monthly events are free and open to all, but forays and other select activities are for members only. Join now! Agaricus of Colorado with PPMS President James Chelin

James will be discussing the wide variety of the Agaricus species found right here in Colorado. He will also share some of his latest research on rare and newly discovered Agaricus and how to identify them.

New Mexico Mycological Society and Pikes Peak Mycological Society Spring Foray

PPMS is joining forces with the New Mexico Mycological Society for a 3-day Spring foray in Taos, NM. Tickets are required: $100 for adults. Kids under 18 are free. The ticket price includes a full dinner on Friday night, swag, forays, lectures and more.

Scientific Collections Foray with Dr. Amy Honan

Mycologist Dr. Amy Honan will describe procedures for gathering research-grade fungal specimens. These can be used for DNA sequencing and helping further describe the wide diversity of Colorado Fungi.

Fungi in Homeopathic Practice with Elena L. Pollard, MA

Elena L. Pollard, MA is a local Integrative Homeopath in Colorado Springs.  She specializes in complex cases using classical Homeopathy and Human Chemistry Integrative Therapy.  Elena began her journey in the healing arts studying herbal medicine with a focus on medicinal mushrooms.  Shortly after she fell in love with Homeopathy and switched paths to become a Certified Homeopath.  Elena utilizes the power of medicinal fungi in her practice both as extracts and as Homeopathic remedies.  She is the owner and formulator of Soleluna Botanicals, a local wellness business specializing in BioBru Mushroom Coffee Elixir, Plant and Fungi Elixirs using locally sourced fungi, and an organic skincare line.   Elena worked for over 20 yrs in biomedical autism research focusing on nutritional deficiencies and the gut microbiome, and has published over a dozen peer reviewed research articles.   Locally Elena enjoys educating the community about medicinal mushrooms, homeopathy, and leading Homeopathic Meditative Journeys.

PPMS 4th Annual Camping Foray

Camping, mushrooms, cook and tastes. Days hanging out in the woods with friends and myco experts. It doesn’t get better than this! We will have reserved camp sites for $25 per member or family.  Space is limited so keep your eye out for the sign-up here.

Community Science and New discoveries from DNA Sequencing with Mandie Quark

Molecular mycologist by training, Mandie Quark is also a researcher, writer, and editor with a passion for the advancement of community science. Devoted to fungal DNA barcoding initiatives, Mandie is the only person who works for all three of the leading community mycology organizations in North America. She is Communications Lead for the Fungal Diversity Survey, the only biodiversity conservation organization in North America exclusively devoted to fungi. Mandie also recently stepped into the role of California Citizen Science Liaison for Mycota Lab. She also volunteers much of her time to the Ohio Mushroom DNA Lab. Mandie actively contributes to the North American Mycological Association DNA Sequencing Committee, where she spearheaded the Commercial Mycoblitz in 2024. Mandie lives and works in the California Bay Area, while continuing to tour the world as a keynote speaker, photographer, and field collector during mushroom season.
